If you love morels or other mushrooms, this is your chance to learn more from an expert! A native Hoosier, Chris Matherly will be at the Indian-Celina Lakes Recreation Area on the Hoosier National Forest in Perry County on October 17th and 18th for a series of free programs hosted by Cradle of Forestry Interpretive Association. On October 17th, Matherly will be available to answer questions and provide tips and information to the public about all things fungi. He will also provide a mushroom cooking demonstration. Participants should plan to arrive by 5:00 p.m. CDT. Gate attendants will provide directions.
For those wishing to go out into the forest with Matherly to search for wild fungi, he will lead a guided hike on October 18th at 9:00 a.m. CDT. Participants should be dressed for the weather, wear closed toe shoes, insect repellent, and be prepared to walk off-trail.
The Indian-Celina Lakes Recreation Area is located on State Road 37 just south of Interstate 64 in Perry County. There is a $5 per vehicle day use fee for the area.
