The winter shelter group will be holding another training session for anyone interested in volunteering to help at the shelter. The previous training session had a good turnout, but the winter shelter group is looking for close to 100 volunteers to help with overnight sit ins.
The training will take place on Thursday October 17th at 6:30 PM at First Baptist Church in Tell City. The training is expected to last about 90 minutes.
Volunteers at the training session will go over the training manual with an instructor. Time for questions will be available as well.
The group is looking for volunteers to sit over night and into the morning with people who will be taking shelter from the cold. Volunteers will need to sit with them at least one night per week during the cold months, but will only be asked to take one shift per night. Three shifts are available (8:00 PM to midnight, midnight to 6:00 AM, and 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM).
Anyone with questions can call Dan Hopkins at (812) 508-9700.
