Industrial Technology Instructor

Ivy Tech is seeking a part-time Industrial Technology Instructor for it’s Tell City, Indiana Campus. Experience in an industrial setting with electrical and/or mechanical systems a must.

Industrial Technology program provides education and training that’s largely hands-on, using a variety of training equipment and instruments. Students can take courses on job-specific topics ranging from welding to fluid power systems.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Instructors of the Ivy Tech Industrial Technology program may work in factories or warehouses, and will have diverse backgrounds such as: Automation specialists, electrical technicians, process technicians, general maintenance technicians, and quality specialists.
Major Responsibilities:
INSTRUCTION
  • Deliver assigned classes using teaching style and technology that best support student learning.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials in keeping with and furtherance of course objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required.
  • Manage a classroom environment conducive to student learning and in adherence to federal, state, and college safety standards and practices.
  • Use Learning Management System to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment and communication.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
  • Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND BUSINESS OUTREACH
  • Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance the college’s relationships within its service area asappropriate for department/school/college.
  • Develop community/industry/business contacts to advance college relationships within service area as appropriate in the department andschool.
INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT
  • Participate in college/campus-wide meetings and departmental/school/faculty meetings.
  • Participate in career service and alumni activities.
  • Support program/department chair in program management activities.
  • Adhere to college and campus academic policies.

Hiring Range:
  • $45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).
Work Hours:
  • Position will be Tuesday 8am – 4:30pm or Friday 8am – 4:30pm depending on instructor availability.
  • Position starts approximately March 11, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline.
  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught.
  • Three years of directly related work experience to Industrial Technology. Previous experience with electrical and/or mechanical systems used in an industrial setting.
  • Must be located to teach in-person at the Tell City, IN campus
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possesses a baccalaureate, or higher, degree in technology, engineering, engineering technology or a baccalaureate, or higher, degree directly related to Industrial Technology.
  • Three years, or more, secondary or postsecondary teaching experience
