Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician assists in drug preparation and distribution, inventory control, billing, quality assurance, and trouble‑shooting.
Job Duties
· Supports and promotes hospital’s mission, vision, values and goals.
· Models PCMH’s Standards of Behavior.
· Consistently utilizes AIDET™.
· Prepares medications for dispensing by the pharmacist.
· Prepares intravenous admixtures for dispensing by the pharmacist.
· Re stocks medications in units, pharmacy, and automated dispensing cabinets
· Operates automated dispensing systems machines in all aspects.
· Operates pharmacy computer system in all aspects.
· Inspects pharmacy and units for expired or visually contaminated medications and ensures security of medications.
· Prepares, delivers and checks medications and stock.
· Transmits, receives, checks and puts away orders.
· Participates in Quality Assurance and DUE activities as requested by the Director of Pharmacy.
· Participates in problem solving and troubleshooting activities as necessary.
· Exercises good communication skills (via telephone and person to person) with hospital personnel and visitors.
· Effectively utilizes pharmacy reference material.
· Other duties as assigned.
Mental/Physical Effort
Must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, nurses, hospital personnel and patients as necessary. Must exercise good communication skills at all times. Must be able to manage multiple projects. Must be able to re‑prioritize work according to changing demands. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and to do considerable amounts of walking, if necessary. Must also be able to perform light lifting.
Education
· High school graduate or equivalent.
· Successful completion or enrollment in an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training course is preferred.
Licensure/Certification
· Must be licensed or obtain licensure (as required by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy) as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Indiana and provide a copy of this licensure prior to first day on the job.
· Must maintain CPR certification.
· Must provide copies of licensure/certification for personnel records including renewals.
Experience
· Experience preferred
Special Knowledge
Ability to type quickly and proficiently.
Contact Responsibility
Works closely with Director of Pharmacy, staff pharmacists, physicians and nursing services staff. Working contact with other hospital staff.

Hazards: Exposure to disease and hazardous drugs.
